K. Michelle Shaw, DVM

Dr. Shaw graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M in 2009. She and her husband, Ryan, then moved to Boerne where she joined the team at Herbst Veterinary Hospital and Kendall County Veterinary Center (our sister practices) in Boerne where she has practiced for 8 years. She is excited to be at Dominion Crossing full time starting in the fall of 2017.

Dr. Shaw was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, which is where she met her husband (they were high school sweethearts). She grew up surrounded by animals of all kinds (dogs, cats, horses, and goats). She participated in barrel racing, play days, and trail riding as a child.

Dr. Shaw has a special interest in internal medicine and oncology. She and her husband, Ryan, are blessed with two young children, Paisley and Weston. Their family also includes a yellow lab, Cabela. During her time off Dr. Shaw helps her husband with his residential construction company and enjoys family time, boating, and Crossfit.

Seth Jones, DVM

Dr. Seth Jones and his wife Becca moved to Boerne in 2002 after earning their undergraduate and then Seth’s veterinary degree from Texas A&M. Coming back home to Boerne and entering such a progressive and capable practice family was an opportunity that they couldn’t miss out on.

The Joneses lived in downtown Boerne for about 9 years before moving out into the country in 2011, where they are currently raising their daughter Emmy Lane and son Cason. Daddy (as he is called there) is most happy fishing with the kids and playing with them after work. And there’s nothing better than the occasional day when he gets to be home in “the good-morning time” as the children call it. Crash the dog and Cuatro and Callie (cats) provide babysitting assistance as needed and tons of entertainment. A decade into practice, Dr. Jones enjoys it more every day! He welcomes challenging medical and surgical cases and focuses on his relationships with his patients and clients.

Brenda Brehm – Veterinary Technician

Brenda was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. From there she went to A&M and graduated with her Bachelors degree in Animal Science. After graduating she spent some time in east Texas as a veterinary technician intern for Black Beauty Ranch. Then she headed to the hill country where she was an equestrian specialist intern for Ebert Ranch Camp. Brenda joined our team in June of 2015.

Melissa Barnes – Receptionist/Technician

Melissa joined our team in July 2017! Georgia/South Carolina native and avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, Melissa has been in the veterinary field for seven years and is currently in school to obtain her Associates in Veterinary Technology. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two children, hanging out with friends, reading, and loving on her 2 dogs, Leonard and Apollo.

Dawn Leyendecker – Practice Administrator

Dawn has been a Boerne resident for many years and attended Curington Elementary School as a child. She received her Bachelors in Psychology from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2001 and attends numerous CE classes and Seminars to keep up with the latest in veterinary medicine and practice management skills. Dawn married her husband, Kenny Leyendecker, in 1999 and they happily welcomed their first child Hendrix to their family in 2013. Their daughter, Joplin, was born in 2017. In addition to their handsome son, they also have a large family of four-legged loved ones. Their dogs include, Cody, Camo, Benny & Joon; Cats include Spanky & Oliver; Horses include Malloy & TeCe, and they also have an African Spurred Tortoise named Cruiser.

With over 15 years of experience in the veterinary world, Dawn Leyendecker is a seasoned Practice Administrator that has brought positive influence to Dominion Crossing Veterinary Hospital, Herbst Veterinary Hospital, and Kendall County Veterinary Center. Dawn entered into the veterinary world as a receptionist in a San Antonio veterinary hospital in 1998 and became the office manager for that practice in 2002. As the clinic grew so did much of her responsibilities, allowing her to become the Operations Coordinator for that company in 2013. We are pleased to have her on our team and look forward to the future of our hospitals.

Jennifer – Receptionist

Jennifer joined our team in the summer of 2018.  She grew up on the east coast but has been a Texas resident since 2002.  Jen is always making friends with strange animals, as seen in her photo.  She lives with “a zoo” as she calls it, which includes a ball python, bearded dragon, turtle, cat, greyhound, and mastiff.  Her mastiff “Olive” recently underwent a leg amputation but is the happiest dog on 3 legs anyone has ever known according to Jen.  When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband, Ryan, and their animals.
